Random Portraits
When I was a student at the New York Film Academy we have daily fieldwork activities. The class would go around the city and take photos. Our professor would give us an assignment of what to photograph that day.
It was a bit of a challenge for me since Im not good with direction. And GPS was not yet introduced to me. I would often have difficulty going back to our meeting place after the assignment.
But I always enjoyed doing field assignments. It trained us to be not afraid to ask random people to take their photos. I realized that people are really nice to students like us back then. I think that one thing that we are being taught is not to be scared nor shy to ask people. The worst they can say is NO. And it won’t hurt to ask again.
I like taking portraits. For me, it’s very personal because that person lets me get closer to him or her. Here are some of the images I photographed back then.
